Oh, Polaroid...

I spent this past week organizing my office, and in the piles and piles of proofs, test shots and contact sheets, I found a few more Polaroids I took a while back - just wondering how photography will evolve in the future, I will miss my little faded friends...

Save Polaroid

I have always loved Polaroid film, there is something absolutely great about taking a picture and having it in your hand 30 seconds later. Back in the day, before digital cameras, I used a Polaroid camera to do all my test shots before I wasted a ton of film on overexposed shots. I still have it, it's one of my prized possessions, a constant companion through my journey.
When Polaroid announced it was getting out of the film business, a collective GASP! went out - many photographers make a living turning Polaroids into beautiful art, and sites like Save Polaroid hope to help - http://www.savepolaroid.com/.
I don't know, will 35mm be next? I still shoot film, although not as often, but there is something about really planning a shot, the light, composition and subject that is almost extinct in the digital photoshop age. I believe thinking about your shot makes you a better photographer, rather than keep shooting until you get something you like (or that you will like after all the post processing)...

I did it!

Yes! I finally read The New York Times, front to back - took me a wonderfully lazy Sunday in the mountains and it's off the "bucket list".

Whoohoo!
